Courses (National Vocational Qualifications) Care & Clinical Skills Clinical Management Industrial Relations & Human Resources Legal & Governance Nursing Personal & Career Development Training & Assessment Care & Clinical Workshops These workshops include nationally accredited and non accredited specialty areas of expertise uniquely designed to meet the needs of aged care, community care and retirement living workers. The focus is on clinical care. - Basic Assessment Skills for Nurses: Refresh and improve your basic assessment skills. Enhance your ability to conduct a blood pressure, blood sugar level, mid-stream urine collection, temperature and respiratory assessment and identify the acceptable parameters after which support may be required.
- Controlling Communicable Disease Outbreaks: In this workshop we study various types of communicable diseases, the recognition of an outbreak, strategies coordination, inter-organisational communication, consistency and timelines of communication; assessing control stategies and applying containment strategies to control an outbreak.
- Infection Control for Residential Aged Care Facilities: Explore the elements of an effective infection control program in accordance with Standard 4.7. In particular review risk management, infection control surveillance and continuous improvement frameworks.
- Management & Prevention of Pressure Ulcers: Learn to identify at risk clients, use assessment tools, scales and categorising and adherence to a preventative management system.
- Management of Incontinence in the Older Adult: Incontinence is one of the three major causes (along with mobility and dementia) of admittance to aged care facilities.
- Management of Percutaneous Tubes, Drain Sites & Fistulas: Explore the simple management options for oesophageal, gastrostomy, jejunostomy, nephrostomy and biliary tubes.
- Manual Handling: Understand the body and biomechanics, the Manual Handling Code of Practice and learn general risk management principles. Learn correct lifting and carrying principles.
- Orientation to Community Care Services: If you are new to the Community Care industry this program will provide a general overview of funding streams and community care standards.
- Pain Management: This workshop discusses the pain treatment continuum: diagnosis, oral medications, physical therapy, exercise and rehabilitation, behavioural medicine, corrective surgery, therapeutic nerve blocks, oral opiates, implantable pain management devices, neurostimulation, intrathecal pumps, and neuroablation.
- Risk Factors and Fall Prevention for Older People: Identify, develop and implement safe, effective, cost-efficient and evidence based intervention strategies.
- Understand Major Psychiatric Illness: Discuss common myths associated with mental illness, differentiate between depression, anxiety and Acquired Brain Injury (ABI). Explore strategies to manage the symptoms of each condition.
